Announcement: 2020 Rock Creek & Boundary Fall Fair

Announcement: 2020 Rock Creek & Boundary Fall Fair

Thank you to all our Community – members, volunteers, sponsors, performers, vendors, loyal Fair supporters and attendees – for your patience this season while we have all been waiting to see how this extraordinary year unfolds.

We have finally come to a decision whether or not to postpone the 2020 Rock Creek Fall Fair. Although Fair is just over 3 months away, we feel it is necessary to make the decision to postpone now, and to start preparing for the very challenging year to come.

To our locals, we will continue to pay attention to evolving health regulations and if it is possible to have a gathering on Fair weekend – in honour of our Fair and each other, we will try to make this happen. Keep us on your radar!

We have spent much time and deliberation considering the present health regulations, projections – optimistic and pessimistic, what we could be asking of our entire volunteer force. We appreciate the hardship our postponement brings to our venders, performers, non-profits also fundraising on Fair weekend, but we feel the demands on our volunteers – if our event is permitted in September – would be quite unfair. The last thing we want to do is place our Fair Community in a position of distress and risk. As well, the events, activities, services and entertainment would be a shadow of what our Fair is known to be.

This Fair was to be our 75th Diamond Jubilee – an extremely special occasion, and we still intend to make our 75th Diamond Jubilee absolutely fantastic. We now have more time to create and consider more ways to bring forth our special ‘Special’. We will be celebrating 75 years of phenomenal community, livelihoods, champion character, and zeal for Boundary life. The Fair heritage goes back many more than 75 years; in that time the seeds of courage, joy, determination, respect for rural living, and the golden rule……It’s More Fun With Others, were planted. If there is ever a time to keep these tenets in the periphery of our daily lives, it is now. Be creative, be honest and be kind.

We are not shutting down or giving up. We are also your friends, neighbours and businesses – standing with you. Take care everyone.

Sincerely,

Rock Creek and Boundary Fair Association
